The letter is from Charles Michie Smith to the Police Inspector, Periyakulam, asking to take some steps to prevent the recurrence of the troubles mentioned in the enclosed letter from the observer at Periyakulam; that letter with the name of people who own the buffaloes state the troubles caused by the trespassing buffaloes and hence requesting the Director to take action. The reply from the Inspector of Police says that he will take necessary action to avoid the recurrence. However, as the offense is non-cognizable, the paper may be forwarded to the Magistrate for necessary action.

The letter is letter from the Director, Kodaikanal and Madras Observatories to offg. Director-General of Indian Observatories about wrong observation made at Periyakulam by the observer, and his dismissal.

The letter is from E. M. Cook, Under Secretary to the Govt. of India to The Director General of Observatories informing that the Government of India has been pleased to sanction the transfer of the observer's house at Periyakulam, together with its site, to the Government of Madras free of charge.

The letter is from M. Brown, Executive Engineer, to The Director, Kodaikanal Observatory, asking his opinion on using the Observer's house at Periyakulam for storing materials.

The letter is from offg: the Director-General of Observatories to The Director, Kodaikanal & Madras Observatories, informing about the letter from the Government of Madras asking to transfer the observer's house at Periyakulam to them instead of having it sold and the proceeds credited to the imperial funds. Hence asking if the Department is entitled to any compensation for relinquishing the property. In the connection, requesting to let them know what the building and site originally cost, from whom the site was purchased, and any condition attached to the purchase of the site or the erection of the building, as that information is not available from papers from Simla or Calcutta.

The letter is from the Sub Division Officer to The Director Of Kodaikanal Observatory requesting to direct the Observer at Periyakulam to hand over his quarters to the Overser P.W.D Periyakulam as the building is in charge of P.W.D.

The letter is from The Director, Kodaikanal and Madras Observatories to W. A. Harwood, Imperial Meteorologist, Simla, informing that the cost of the building, including the value of land for the observer's house at Periyakulam was Rs.3550/- but he has no information regarding the person from whom the land was purchased nor about any conditions, hence will enquire the PWD if necessary. Also, according to Dr Walker's letter, the house was built by the Public Works Department and charged to the Government of India, so the transfer to the Government of Madras does not seem to concern the department.

The letter is from the Observer of the Observatory at Periyakulam acknowledging the receipt of forms, copies of the register, copies of the annual return, and nibs for self recording instrument.
