This item was about the Prof K S Krishnan's journey from a rural background to becoming a renowned scientist and sharing the Nobel Prize with his mentor, Dr. C V Raman, is truly inspiring. Born on December 4, 1898, in the village of Watrap in Tamilnadu's Tirunelveli district, Krishnan moved to Madurai after matriculation and was drawn to the scientific work of C V Raman. Krishnan then went to Calcutta to work as a research associate under Raman and made significant discoveries in optical physics that led to the discovery of the Raman effect.
