The book Traite experimental of de L'electricite et du Magnetisme transalates to Experimental Treatise of Electricity. M.Becquerel, of the Academy of Sciences of the Institute of France, wrote this book. It is published in 1840

The letter is from the Director of Telegraph Engineering to the Director of Kodaikanal Observatory requesting to provide the magnetograms of any terrestrial magnetic storm of 22nd and 23rd March 1920. And the reply to it from the Director.

The album contains archival documents related to the building, instruments and observations at the Madras Observatory. It mainly includes an old photo of the Madras Observatory, a photocopy of the first observation taken in 1786 from the observatory, two pictures of Kater's pendulum hung in front of the Haswell clock in the observatory, a sketch of the Madras Observatory building from 1848 Taylor's catalogue and painting of Madras coast by Daniel.

The item contains six telegraphs from the Telegraph Director in Bombay, with four directed towards Kodaikanal and two towards Chetput(Chennai). One is a request for a copy of the magnetogram taken during the magnetic storm.

The letter was from Charles P. Butler to the Officer Commanding Royal Engineers informing him that the nearest railway station where recent magnetic declination observations were made is Perambur Station, located 4-5 miles from Fort St. George. He provided the latitude, longitude, and magnetic declination for this location.

This letter is from Colonel St. G.C. Gore to the Meteorological Reporter to the Government of India and Director General of Observatories about the Vertical force Magnetograph, which had been sanctioned for Kodaikanal.

The album includes documents on the results of astronomical observations and photographs related to the Madras Observatory. A copy of the first observation made at the Madras Observatory and a page from Madras M. S. record is preserved with photos of the Madras Observatory, Shelton clock and granite slab with Latin inscription at Madras Observatory. A map of Madras Observatory land in 1826 and a sketch of John Goldingham swinging Kater's pendulum hung in front of Haswell clock in the observatory.

This item contains letters from the Colonel. O.V. Boddy Superintending Engineer to the chief Engineer Public works Department regarding a sanction on estimate. It also correspondence a letter from Charles Michie Smith the Director of Kodaikanal and Madras Observatories to the Secretary to the Government of Madras regarding an estimate for the construction of magnetic observatory in Kodaikanal.
