The photos in this fond are collected from Directors office and are preserved in IIA library

The documents were acquired from the Director's office of the main campus Bangalore

The album includes documents on the results of astronomical observations and photographs related to the Madras Observatory. A copy of the first observation made at the Madras Observatory and a page from Madras M. S. record is preserved with photos of the Madras Observatory, Shelton clock and granite slab with Latin inscription at Madras Observatory. A map of Madras Observatory land in 1826 and a sketch of John Goldingham swinging Kater's pendulum hung in front of Haswell clock in the observatory.

The corners of the photographs are inserted into the cuttings made of thick paper and attached. Photographs must be preserved in laminated sheets to avoid the fading due to direct contact and moisture

The photos in the fond are arranged chronologically according to the year of events

Researchers must sign IIA Archival access agreement
