              This letter is from John Evershed to the Director-General of the India Store Department to acknowledge the receipt of letter S.614/22, a copy of which had been sent to the Director of the Nizamiah Observatory, Hyderabad, Deccan regarding the necessary expenditure of GBP 25.

He suggests instructing the Director General for stores to insist on all bright steel parts of delicate scientific instruments being heavily tallowed by the consignors as part of the packing specification.
