              The order was on the appointment of Prof. E. B. Ross as Acting Meteorologist, Madras, and Deputy Director of Madras Observatory effective from 1st July 1919. Prof. E. B. Ross was the Professor at Madras Christian College. Meteorological Department issued the order by the Registrar of the Madras Government in 1919.

Vainu Bappu, Harvard College Observatory, Cambridge informing that Dr. Vannevar Bush, President of the institution, has approved his appointment as a fellow of the Carnegie Institution of Washington for a period of one year with a grant of $3000.

              This letter was regard to the question of treating the appointment of the mechanic at Kodaikanal Observatory as superior the Comptroller, India Treasuries. Further he mentioned that the man is a skilled instument maker and not an ordinary mechanic, hence Government of India to treat this as a special case.
