Thomas Royds wrote this letter to inform the Director General of Observatories that he had joined as the Director of Kodaikanal and Madras Observatories on August 3, 1913. It was sent from Kodaikanal in 1913.

This letter was reply to D.O.No.2637 of the 6th instant saying that K.A.Narayana Aiyar acted as observer at Periyakulam were October 7, 1907 to January 31, 1908, new appointment was made to the post on April 7, 1908, Periyakulam Observatory, and he does'nt have a idea of what a "charge list".

This letter was about confirming the appointment of Narayana Aiyar as 1st assistant (Permanent).

The letter is from I. S. Bowen, Director, Mount Wilson and Palomar Observatories to M. K. Vainu Bappu, Harvard College Observatory, Cambridge informing that Dr. Vannevar Bush, President of the institution, has approved his appointment as a fellow of the Carnegie Institution of Washington for a period of one year with a grant of $3000.

This letter was regard to the question of treating the appointment of the mechanic at Kodaikanal Observatory as superior the Comptroller, India Treasuries. Further he mentioned that the man is a skilled instument maker and not an ordinary mechanic, hence Government of India to treat this as a special case.
