Chandrasekhar, an Indian-American theoretical physicist and Nobel prize winner in physical science. This particular visit of Prof. S. Chandrasekhar and his wife, Mrs Lalitha Chandrasekhar, was held in 1991 during the directorship of R. Cowsik.

            The letter was from Thomas Royds, Assistant Director of Observatory, Kodaikanal to G.C. Simpson, the Imperial Meteorologist, Simla. Through this document, Thomas Royds conveyed a new method for taking the mean wind directions in this letter. The document was written in 1914 from Solar Physics Observatory, Kodaikanal.
