This is the reprinted edition of the “Transit of Venus” original pamphlet published in 1874 by C.Ragoonath Chary. IIA library has redesigned the cover page and added the foreword by Prof.S.S.Hasan, Director, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore and brought out the pamphlet before the world wide event of Transit of Venus on 6th June 2012 and published under IIA Archives Publication Series.

This item was the photostate copy of the original pamphlet of "Transit of Venus" by C.Ragoonatha Chary published in English languages in 1874.

The CD contains the digitized book of 26 pages on transit of venus.

The album contains photos of the observation camp for capturing the transit of Venus at IIA Bangalore campus in 2004. The transit of Venus in 2004 was a significant astronomical event in history because it was the first Venus transit after the invention of broadcast media. The photos of the transit of Venus, school students observing the event, setting up the observational ground, and presentations by astronomers of IIA can be seen in the album.

The photographic slides contain some images of Pogson's transit, Madras Observatory, Osmania University, Goldmigham, K D Naegamvala, Uranus painting(1977), the post-war development committee(1945), etc.

The item comprises observations made as Madras Equatorial Observations of transit of Mercury occurred on the 11th and 12th of November 1861 by N.R. Pogson. The document contains observational data and critical notes about the astronomical event. Mercury's transit across the Sun occurs when the planet Mercury passes directly between the Sun and a superior planet.

The letter is from the Director General of stores to Charles Michie Smith regarding volumes of the mural circle and transit observations. It consists of a copy letter from the Royal Astronomical Society and a list of 6 folio volumes presented to the Royal Astronomical Society.

This letter was about three volumes of Transit Observations and Mural Circle Observations that had been stored some time at the Indian store depot have recently been presented to the Royal Astronomical Society
