            This is the reprinted edition of the “Transit of Venus” original pamphlet published in 1874 by C.Ragoonath Chary. IIA library has redesigned the cover page and added the foreword by Prof.S.S.Hasan, Director, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore and brought out the pamphlet before the world wide event of Transit of Venus on 6th June 2012 and published under IIA Archives Publication Series.

            The item comprises observations made as Madras Equatorial Observations of transit of Mercury occurred on the 11th and 12th of November 1861 by N.R. Pogson. The document contains observational data and critical notes about the astronomical event. Mercury's transit across the Sun occurs when the planet Mercury passes directly between the Sun and a superior planet.
