This letter to Mr McDowell states Dr Pfund is now ruling gratings up to 4.5 in, and his diamond points do not last much longer than that. Hence, they are searching for others to rule out some big gratings from the beginning of next month. And this letter was copied to the Director General of Stores to do something needful about this problem, and they mentioned in their last reply letter due to some problem it was impossible to give delivery on time, but everything under their power was done, however, to furnish the grating and the first 6-inch plane ruled of first quality would be shipped.
