This letter was reply to letter dated Oct. 29 about lenses. He was requesting 15-inch, 12-inch, 4-inch and a lens of about 7 ft. focus lenses to be send from Nizamaiah Observatory to Kodaikanal Road Station mentioning the purposes for which it requires. In addition the item has the telegram messages written by Evershed to Pocock and vice versa.

This letter contains information about testing of the 15 inch lens on stars etc and finding something wrong in color correction.

This a letter of enquiry regarding sending of lenses located at Nizamiah Observatory could be sent to Evershed. It also encloses a copy of Pocock's letter where description about the lenses are mentioned.

The letter was written by Houghtons Ltd. to The Secretary of State for India in Council on the enquiry about the quality of the spectrograph slides being sent to Kodaikanal Observatory.

The item was about the rich tributes paid to the noted Indian astronomer M. K. Vainu Bappu. Scientists of Bombay at a condolence meeting held at the Nehru Planetarium on August 22. The director of TIFR said M. K. Vainu Bappu was a giant among astronomers and also suggested that the famous 90-inch telescope should be renamed after him. It also speaks on the M. K. Vainu Bappu-Wilson effect and also the first Indian to discover a comet that had been named after him.

These photographic slides contain the 6-inch telescope at Mount Nimmu top on an astronomical site survey at Leh-Ladakh during 1984-1989.
