            The letter is from John Evershed, Director, Kodaikanal and Madras Observatories, to Dr. Royd's returning plan and estimate for reroofing the spectroheliograph building. Also saying about the roofing and steps to be done after sanction. He at last says Sitaraman and Krishna will return, & send the 6-inch telescope to Kodai, and his application for an extension till July may be approved but not yet sanctioned.

Hawkins, Superintending Engineer, VI Circle, Trichinopoly, to The Director, Kodaikanal & Madras Observatories, informing that he has directed the Executive Engineer Madura Division to put the work in hand at once and complete it at a very early date. The second one states that the delay is due to difficulty in acquiring the materials and their transportation.

            This letter is from R.E.V. Arbuthnot to the secretary to the Government of Madras, Public Works Department, regarding the erection of a building to house the photo spectroheliograph which was being procured from England for the use of the Kodaikanal Solar Physics Observatory.

            The letter is from the Superintending Engineer to the Director of Kodaikanal and Madras Observatories. It contains an estimate to be approved, countersigned, and submitted to the government for sanction. The estimate amounts to Rs.13600 for the construction of a building to house photospectroheliograph in Kodaikanal. Along with the estimates, the plans have also been forwarded.
