The letter is from M. R. Ry. K. N. Aiya Iyer to the Director, Kodaikanal and Madras Observatories, requesting to allow Public Work Overseer Mr K. Subbiah Pillai to enter the land to survey the Observatory area according to the government order to submit a revised description of the boundaries of the Municipality.

This letter is from Deputy Director Madras Observatory to the Director Kodaikanal and Madras Observatories submitting papers related to the bench mark erected by the survey of India in the compound of the observatory.

In this item the Superintending engineer submits a report regarding the progress made on the new observatory buildings in Kodaikanal. It also talks about the special arrangements made by the general superintendent.

This item was about the map of part of the environs of Madras showing the relative positions of the Observatory house station and the guns. This map was made by J.Goldingham who was F.R.S. in Madras Observatory and the map was published in Madras Observatory papers in 1826 on page no. 177.
