The letter was to bring notice on sending a separate cover a copy of the Chapter XIV of Sulaiman's paper on persual.

The album contains photos of Norman Robert Pogson, an English astronomer who worked in India at the Madras Observatory as a Government astronomer during 1861-1891. He undertook observations of comets and found numerous minor planets. Pictures of his father, wife, and children, as well as old photos of Madras and Kodaikanal Observatory, are archived here. Images of C. R. Ragunathachary, who worked with Norman Robert Pogson, can be seen in this album. Some photos are related to his private observatory, Hartwell House, in England.

The letter is to The District Medical & Sanitary Officer, Madura, from the Director of Kodaikanal Observatory requesting to examine A. Y. Subrahmanya Aiyer and certify his fitness for entertainment in the public service as the third assistant of the Solar Physics Observatory, Kodaikanal.

This item was donated by Cherry Armstrong Great-Great Grand daughter of N.R.Pogson in 2006. We can see that Mr. Pogson was standing with Lucy Sylvia, An unknown Indian and Louise Camilla. Some small children were also seen in the photo seated infront, who probably be Charles Albion, Isis, and Robert Owen.

This item was about the second marriage invitation of Mr.N.R. Pogson. Isis Pogson was pleased to announce Mr.N.R. Pogson was going to marry with Miss Edith Silley on 25 October 1883 at 4 o'clock in St. George Cathedral.

The album contains archival documents related to John Evershed, a brief biography, photographs, scientific discoveries in astrophysics, drawings, and sketches of observations from the Kodaikanal Solar Physics Observatory. The album starts with a crisp description of the life of John Eveshed. The photographs in the album are based on the following themes: the mechanical workshop and the spectroheliograph, the plaque installed in 1975 in Kodaikanal to commemorate the discovery of the Evershed effect, observatory buildings, and Evershed with the Kodaikanal Observatory staff. In addition, a detailed description related to the Evershed effect is reproduced from bulletin No. XV(1909) of Kodaikanal Observatory, a photo of Halley's comet and a picture of the moon hand-drawn by Evershed, spectra of nova aquilae in 1918, pencil sketches by Evershed on the solar prominences are preserved in this album. Each item is provided with captions.

This item was about the photo of N.R. Pogson and his first wife, Elizabeth Jane Pogson. It is a black and white picture in which both stood near a table. Mr.Pogson was well dressed, and Mrs. Pogson wore a white gown with a coloured scarf.

A copy of the catalogue for the observation of the minor planet 'Asia', a hand-painted solar spectrum of the total Solar Eclipse in 1868, a copy of the title page of observations of the fixed stars made with the meridian circle and a title page of variable star catalogue. The photographs in this album were collected and presented to Ms. Cherry Amstrong, the great-great-granddaughter of Norman Robert Pogson, during her visit to the Kodaikanal Observatory on 16th February 2006.
