In his speech, the PM highlighted that political barriers should not hinder scientific ties. The PM also released a commemorative stamp depicting Halley's comet. The conference had participation from 1400 astronomers from all over the world, including 300 from India. The special topics of discussion were radio astronomy, cosmology, supernova, and evolution in galaxies.
