              This fond contains letters, annual expenditure reports and bills of Kodaikanal and Madras Observatories. It also contains correspondence of John Eliot,Charles Michie Smith and R.E.V.Arbuthnot during July 1901 to March 1903 regarding the index slip, meteorological summaries, seismological reviews and disturbances and other reports like annual expenditure, bills, and telegraphs. It has a report on the condition and proceedings of the government observatory, Colaba, written by N.A.F.Moos. It also has letters from the Royal Society of India, H. Grubb, J. Larmer, R. Fuess, William Butler and Charles P. Butler to the Meteorological Department and Kodaikanal & Madras Observatory.

              Eliot, John

              This item was about the high resolution line sketch spectra captured by John evershed during his experiment at Kodaikanal Observatory. While experimenting, he came across to capturing the high resolution spectra of Altair, Nova Aquila, Arcturus in the observatory. In this sketch, he pictured the resolution spectra that he observed as Umbra for high resolution and Penumbra for low resolution.

              The letter is from Gilbert T. Walker to the Director Kodaikanal informing about enclosing a copy from the Finance Department sanctioning thr transfer of the observer's house at Periyakulam together with its site to the Govt. of Madras free of cost.

              Letter from the Secretary of the Science Section of the Coronation Exhibition, 1911 of the Art, Industries and the Resources of the British Empire to the Director, Royds of the Madras Observatory regarding the suggestion of Prof. Milne, F.R.S that the director should be written to with a view of forwading the copies of any seismograms of earthquakes, photographs of the effects of the earthequake.
