              This Letter is from the Director, Kodaikanal and Madras Observatories to the executive engineer Madura special division on the assessment of the observatory building. In this letter the director is stating that the assessment on the observatory building adopted for water and drainage tax is the same as that which has been previously accepted for the house tax. These taxes were fixed after a lot of discussions in 1904 and was finally decided on a single sum being fixed for the whole of observatory buildings.
