              This fond contains official letters related to William Butler from March to November 1908.

              Butler, William

              The letter disusses on John Evershed's paper which was written 18 moths ago saying that he gone through the paper and a good deal about the factor 2 and the red-shift. A. S. Eddington said that he now more or less concerned that Einstein's theory is wrong on this point, and the true theoritical red-shift is twice his value as you find. Further he mentioned that the Thomas Royds confused him on the desirable value as the eclipse.

              This item was reply to letter S.12098, saying that he forwarded one packet of the Seed Gilt Plates out of which two of the plates exposed and show the defects. It also contains the report of the plates by Evershed, who has worked with the plates. In addition the letter has statement of Kodak Company and the mistake made by the Company.
