              This letter was to inform John Evershed regarding holding the Pan-Pacific Science conference in Australia in August, 1923, and on behalf of the Council, the council desire to extend the invitation to the Madras Observatory.

              This was a reply letter to W. Huggings kind letter of Sept.8th saying that it is very encouraging to know that our work here is appreciated by you. Then he wrote about radial motion in Sunspots, suggestion of Huggings in 1885, inclination of spectrum and finally climate conditions of Kodaikanal.

              This letter explained on Observatories Committee recommendation that sunspot spectra should be photographed in the first place and that visual observations were to be secondary in the year 1895 or at any rate before 1901. Since he could not find an original document on the subject, he has requested to provide the copy of the recommendations previous to 1901.
