This item is a letter from W.J.Dunlop, Chairman of Municipal Council Kodaikanal to Charles Michie Smith Municipal Councillor Kodaikanal enclosing a letter from the executive engineer Madura in regards to the assessment of the observatory building.

This letter is from W. J. Dunlop to the Executive Engineer informing that the domes etc belonging to the observatory building should be closed under machinery and the cost of such items should be deducted from the capital cost. Also a reply letter from the director of Kodaikanal and Madras Observatories Michie Smith questioning this is a very troublesome work and also he mentioned that this cannot be reached by any considerate of cost.
