John Evershed, Director of Kodaikanal & Madras Observatory, wrote this letter to Gilbert T. Walker, assuming they might be getting the prism from Poona Observatory. He mentioned sending correspondence about the new micrometer and a specification. He devised another much simpler method of reducing moonlight comparable with 1st magnitude stars, which seems quite successful. He also proposed purchasing a Hartmann machine from private funds to save time and trouble.
