The Superintendent of Telegraphs, Central Telegraph Office, Madras, has written to the Deputy Director, Madras Observatory, Madras, regarding the inconvenience faced by the Alipore Observatory in operating without regular time signals at 16 hours on Sundays. While there are no objections to discontinuing the signals elsewhere, it has been decided that they shall not be sent to any office on Sundays, starting from June 6, 1909, except to the Alipore Observatory.

Butler, Ag: Director, Kodaikanal & Madras Observatories to Executive Engineer Madura regarding some construction needs at the Solar Physics Observatory, like a permanent building to hold the 4-inch photoheliograph, a glazed verandah for keeping the north-western side of the observatory dry, an open verandah for the Bookbinder's shed and quarters for the writer of the observatory.
