Part of Correspondence related to Spectroheliograph's roofing during 1907-1923

The letter is from The Director, Kodaikanal & Madras Observatories, to The Sub-Division Officer, Kodaikanal, informing that the roof of the Spectroheliograph building and the two domes in the main building require painting with zinc white paint during that official year. And also requesting to arrange to do the work during the dry season.

This letter was written by L. Robertson, Esquire, I.C.S., Secretary to Government to the Secretary to the Government of India, Department of Revenue and Agriculture, requesting the opinion of the Government of Bombay as to whether the Maharaja Takhtsingji Observatory at Poona should not be abolished on the retirement of Professor Naegamvala and as to whether the instruments etc. might not be removed to the observatory at Kodaikanal. He forwarded a list of principal instruments at the Poona Observatory and said the Maharaja of Bhavnagar accepted the above understanding.

This letter was issued from the Department of Revenue and Agriculture (Meteo.), The Government of India agreed with the proposal of closing the Maharaja Takhtasingji Observatory at Poona, and the instruments would be shifted to the Solar Physics Observatory at Kodaikanal. The Director General of Observatories asked Mr Evershed to be present at Poona during the dismantling of the telescopes and also to send the 'enlarging apparatus and spectrum microscope' to Kodaikanal if its removal doesn't interfere with the working of Poona Observatory before abolition.
