Harwood, Imperial Meteorologist, Simla, informing that the cost of the building, including the value of land for the observer's house at Periyakulam was Rs.3550/- but he has no information regarding the person from whom the land was purchased nor about any conditions, hence will enquire the PWD if necessary. Also, according to Dr Walker's letter, the house was built by the Public Works Department and charged to the Government of India, so the transfer to the Government of Madras does not seem to concern the department.
