This is a letter from H.S.Northey executive Engineer Madura division to the Director of Kodaikanal and Madras Observatories regarding the repairs to the observatory buildings in Kodaikanal. It contains estimates amounting to Rs.330 for special repairs to the observatory at kodaikanal with 2 domes, Rs.320 for repairs at Magnetic observatory in Kodai, Rs.110 for repairs to the Anemometer tower in Kodai, Rs.115 for special repairs at the sliding roof building both old and new in Kodaikanal and Rs.64 for photoheliograph buildings with dome at Kodaikanal

This letter was a reply note of June 29 of M. K. Bappu father of M.K.Vainu Bappu about the indebtedness of both to Mr.Campbell. Further, Harlow Shapley mentioned his enjoyment with M.K.Bappu and his wife with their son in America. Shapley mentioned that probably you have heard that if your son had not gone to Mount Wilson we would have offered him a half-year lectureship in the Harvard University.
