Born on December 4, 1898, in the village of Watrap in Tamilnadu's Tirunelveli district, Krishnan moved to Madurai after matriculation and was drawn to the scientific work of C V Raman. Krishnan then went to Calcutta to work as a research associate under Raman and made significant discoveries in optical physics that led to the discovery of the Raman effect.

This item was about the program on the occasion of Dr. K. S. Krishnan's birth anniversary, the National Institute of Advanced Studies organized a program. The chief guest for the event was the President of India, Mr. R. K. Narayanan. He spoke about Dr. Krishnan and mentioned that he was not only a great scientist but much more than that.
