The album contains images of famous figures from politics, science, and related sectors visiting the Kodaikanal Observatory. The visit by Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, and the visit by Indira Gandhi during the tenure of the Prime Minister and other ministers from Indian politics are preserved in the album. It also has photos of Prof. S. Chandrasekhar and Homi J. Bhabha's visit. Group photos of M. K. Vainu and his colleagues at the Kodaikanal Observatory are also preserved in the album.

The item is related to the first Independence Day celebrations at Kodaikanal on 1947 August 15. The first photo is a group photo of all members sitting on the front side of the observatory. The second photograph is of the flag hoisting by the Director, Dr. Anil Kumar Das. All the names of the participants are written on the back side of the photograph.
