Scope and content
This item was about an important day in astronomy as the Halley's Comet was sighted at the Kavalur observatory. According to Prof. K. R. Sivaraman, the chairman of the Indian Halley observation Program, the sighting on September 3 confirmed the earlier visibility in a photograph taken on August 29 by Dr. K. K. Scaria of IIA using the same telescope at Kavalur. Prof. Sivaraman also mentioned that further scientific observations of the comet would be made once it developed its tail. This is an exciting development for astronomy enthusiasts and researchers alike.
