The notice was published by V. Srinivasa Ayyar, Deputy Tahsildar, Kodaikanal inviting officers in the observatory office to attend the "GENERAL PEACE CELEBRATIONS" a DARBAR for making known "THE TERMS OF PEACE TREATY" signed by Germany will be held by the Deputy Tahsildar at the JAMABUNDY HALL in the taluq Cutcherry compound at 10 A.M. on 19-7-1919.

In this item, Professor M.G.K. Menon, the science advisor to the prime minister, revealed a commemorative plaque at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics to celebrate its two centuries of existence. He then presented the first public lecture for IIA's bicentennial on 'international cooperation in science' and planted a Brachychiton acerifilia sapling. Additionally, the institute honoured him with an album containing envelopes specially cancelled at its centres in Kavalur, Kodaikanal, and Gauribidanur.

At the age of 16, he left his home to study astronomy. In 1851, he was appionted an Assistant in Mr.Bishop's Observatory. In 1859, he had become the Diretor of Dr.Lee's private Observatory. He was also a good Musician. He was one of the most faithful members of the Madras Philharmonic Society.
