            A reply letter from the Director mentioning the impossibility of fixing the sunshine recorder satisfactorily on the pier which was built for it. He also mentioned he will build a larger pier in a new and better site and will cement it in place as suggested

            This is a reply letter to the Director from Gilbert Walker with reference to the previous letter. It was mentioned that the sunshine recorder should be firmly fixed so that it will not be accidentally thrown out of adjustment.

            This letter is from the Assistant Superintendent to the Deputy Director informing us that the instruments in the Marine office are still serviceable, but from some tests made, several coils appear to be short circuited. For this one new instrument is required and the cost for that is also enclosed with this letter.

            This Letter is from the Director General of Stores to Roberts S. Whipple for reassembling for a final optical and photographic test before being packed for transit. The slits required for these instruments have the form of circular arcs, and to make a set of sufficiently high quality, which is necessary to devise and make a particular machine, a photograph of which would be enclosed.
