French astronomer Gustave de Pontecoulant wrote the Analytical Theory of the World System volume 3, part I has pages from "i-xxiv, 1 - 230" and part II has pages from "231 - 566". It was published in 1834. It contains mathematical and scientific explanations of various phenomena related to celestial bodies and their movements. The book covers topics such as the orbits of planets, perturbations caused by gravitational influences, calculations of constants and coefficients, expressions for perturbing forces, and equations for determining the elements of orbits.

IIA library has redesigned the cover page and added the foreword by Prof.S.S.Hasan, Director, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore and brought out the pamphlet before the world wide event of Transit of Venus on 6th June 2012 and published under IIA Archives Publication Series.
