Butler, Ag: Director, Kodaikanal & Madras Observatories to Superintending Engineer, VIth Circle, Trichinopoly, replying to the letter asking for the opinion on the necessity of construction of glazed verandah and porch. The letter says the construction was requested before his arrival, and it is not advisable for him to express the opinion in the absence of the Director. Also, he requests that the walls on the Southwestern sides be made waterproof as the rain makes the room moist, which is harmful to the scientific instruments.
