James de Graaff-Hunter (1881–1967) was a British geodesist who made significant contributions to geodetic surveying in India. Educated at Cambridge, he joined the Survey of India in 1906 and later became director of its Geodetic Branch, overseeing important mapping projects that advanced the region’s geodetic network. Elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1933, he also served as President of the International Association of Geodesy (1954–1957). His work laid important foundations for modern geodesy in India and beyond.
Govind Kumar Menon, M.

Prof. M Govind Kumar Menon, an internationally known physicist, was Chairman, Electronics Commission and Director, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, before assuming the Office of SA to RM on 17 August 1974. He studied Advanced Physics at the University of Bristol and obtained the PhD degree in 1953. At Bristol, he worked with Nobel Laureate Professor CF Powell.
